Suing God

Even though John Edwards' physical presence was not evident, his spirit continues to thrive in the crazy world of trial lawyers.

Today, Herwig Hasslacher, one of three lawyers representing a group of Austrian and German victims of the December 26, 2004 Asian tsunami, has filed suit against Thailand, French hotel chain Accor, and U.S forcasters. The suit askes the defendents to "prove they reacted adequately to the disaster".

Evidently, according to Hasslacher, not enough was done by Thailand and NOAA to warn vacationers in the Indian Ocean of the impending natural disaster (forget the natives - they don't contribute to the economy). Accor is being sued because it didn't adequately notify victims' relatives (once it found them), and because it buit its Sofitel on a fault line.

The suit is currently just a fishing expedition; no damages are being sought... "at this time".

How comforting.

In related news, mark Friday, April 13, 2024 on your calendar!

On that fateful day asteroid 2004 MN4 - the size of three soccer fields - will pass between the Earth and the Moon! It will, according to scientists, actually be closer to the earth than some communication satellites!

Better make sure your dish network is upgraded to accomodate for any asteroid-related outages.

So far, the asteroid is only a thrilling nuisance. It is not expected to hit the earth.

However, we can rest assured that, in the case it veers slightly from its current path, an army of attorneys is already prepping briefs to be filed on behalf of its victims!

No, wait. That won't fly, will it?

We will have had 19 years warning about 2004 MN4.
